FRIDAYS

Matt Heineke

Matt Heineke has over 20 years of professional experience as an accomplished singer and guitarist, first performing in Coronado coffee shops as a high schooler. His passion for music led him to USC where he studied classical and jazz guitar and voice.

Matt worked as a singer-songwriter and studio musician in both Los Angeles and Nashville before relocating to his hometown of San Diego in 2007. Along the way, he developed his own unique style of guitar playing, with influences ranging from folk, classic rock, jazz, country, and bluegrass. His versatility has been showcased in some of Southern California’s most prestigious entertainment production companies for large private and corporate events. We are so excited to host Matt Heineke at Nicky’s!

SATURDAYS

Ron Wheeler

Ron Wheeler was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He was involved in choir at school starting all the way back in first grade, and eventually attended the University of Missouri Music Conservatory, studying vocal music. He was inducted into the Navy in 1971, and soon afterwards moved to San Diego where he spent the majority of his career at North Island Naval Air Station right here on Coronado Island.

In 1994 he was in a duo called “Hard Times” with a good friend, Paul Babiak. Gonzo asked the two to sub a couple of times in his group and they all started practicing in my garage – and Ron’s Garage was born. Now, Ron performs with Ron’s Garage in addition to solo shows in and around Coronado, and we are excited to have him play at Nicky Rottens!
